Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 32 mm, 28.13 g, 12 h), Rome, circa 146. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. COS•IIII / S C Antoninus Pius in quadriga to left, his right hand outstretched and holding eagle-tipped scepter in his left. BMC 1670. Cohen 320. RIC 767a. A beautiful piece with a very attractive even patina and an interesting reverse. A few light deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection (with collector's ticket, inv. no. 38.320) and reportedly from the collection of Apostolo Zeno (1668-1750, hors catalogue).
